November 14, 1940 ~ July 5, 2018 (age 77)

Tex Paris

Born November 14, 1940

Died July 5, 2018

Tex grew up in Odessa and graduated from Odessa High in 1959.  He graduated from Howard Payne University with a degree in Education. He also earned a master’s degree from Texas Tech, and a doctoral degree from North Texas.

He married Dinah Sue Cannon on June 1, 1963.  They enjoyed 38 years of marriage before her death in 2002.

His career in education spanned 45 years, with 43 of those years at Midland Independent School District. He taught history, served as an assistant principal, and finally spent 24 years as Director of Vocational Education.

He married Judie Gibson in 2003, and after retiring, Tex enjoyed riding his horse, traveling with family and participating in Civil War reenactments.  He delighted in his family: Daughters April Paris, Aimee Shelton (husband Ivy), and Amanda Helm (husband Donny).  His grandchildren Hannah and Aaron Helm, Nathan, Andrew, and Daniel Shelton, were his pride and joy, and they continually brought him much delight.

Tex is also survived by his brother Phil Paris.  He was preceded in death by his parents E.V. and Eva Paris, wife Dinah, and his second wife Judie.

Tex followed Christ as a young man and loved God and his word.  He was a member of Frist Baptist Midland, and a member of the John Sunday School class. Chapel of Grace Funeral Home in Lubbock handled cremation services.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, July 8, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of First Baptist Church, Midland.

In lieu of flowers, family requests memorials be directed to Light and Glory Ministries, P.O. Box 5053, Midland Tx, 79704-5053, or Gideons International
