Joseph Novice Richard Jr. was called home to be with Our Lord and Savior November 20, 2019. He was born August 27, 1945 in Galveston, TX to the late Joseph and Dorothy Richard.
Those left to cherish his loving memory are his wife Nancy L. Richard, children; Stephanie McCoy and husband Fred, Joey Richard, Sarah Webb and husband Dale, Susan Manley and husband Max, grandchildren; Kerstin Williamson and husband Whitney, Ryan Williamson and wife Rielle, Kaylee Williamson, Kadie Hutcheson, Zoe Manley, and Lily Manley, great grandchildren; Trae Jackson and Atraehyu Seward.
He was preceded in death his son Joshua Richard and brother Gerald Richard.
Joseph graduated from Kirwin High School in 1963 in Galveston. He loved playing tennis, fishing, and reading.
He attended the University of Houston and then joined the Air Force in 1965 where he was stationed at Lackland AFB San Antonio and Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls. He then transferred to Clark AFB in the Philippines in 1968 for 18 months where he served as a medic taking care of the wounded soldiers from the Vietnam War. He returned in 1970 and attended Midwestern State University and graduated with honors in 1972.
Joseph moved to Lubbock at taught school at Alderson, Montery, and Project Intercept and was principal of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic School in Pampa from 1980-1981. He taught at Shallowater Junior High and St. Martin Hall in San Antonio. He worked at INFONXX as a quality Specialist before retirement. He was ordained a Deacon in the Catholic Church in 1979. He married the love of his life Nancy Lee Hammonds in 1968.
Joseph was a loving and wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
