Johnny Mitchell Gonzales or “Gonzo” fought a good hard battle against health issues for approximately 19 years and left this earthly life to eternal life on November 26, 2018. He was born August 4, 1949 to Raymond Joe Gonzales and Adeline (Garcia) Gonzales in La Junta, Colorado. He was the first of eight children.
Johnny is survived by his two children Johnny Gonzales (Triny) and Veronica Gonzales (Mark Acevedo) of Lubbock, two grandchildren Buddy and Cassie Gonzales of Crosbyton, sisters Gloria Decker (Jim), Mary Ford (Adolph Acevedo), Susan Chavez of Lubbock, and Vicki Gonzales Valle (Rene) of Muleshoe, brothers Philip Gonzales and Rudy Gonzales (Rosie) of Muleshoe, aunt Triny Rubidoux of Trinidad, CO and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Della Gonzales and nephew Albert Avila III. J
ohnny attended elementary school in Rocky Ford, CO and attended junior high and high school in Texico, NM and Farwell, TX. After high school he enlisted in the US Army serving at Various Army bases including on in South Korea. After his time in the service he returned to the Muleshoe area. He was known for dressing up in his cowboy boots, hat and going country dancing. He enjoyed watching football, wrestling, even a good meal, and was always telling jokes and making people laugh. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
A memorial service will be 2pm Tuesday December 11, 2018 at Muleshoe Cowboy Fellowship with Pastor Steve Friskup and Pastor Sergio Leal officiating.
