Antonio Chavez Sr.March 10, 1943 ~ January 8, 2018 (age 74)
Antonio Chavez Sr. was called home to be with our Lord and Savior January 8, 2018. He was born March 10, 1943 to the late Isaac and Manulea Chavez.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Petra Chavez, their four children Antonio Chavez Jr. and wife Jacqueline, Velinda Betancur and husband Angel, Ruben Chavez and wife Melinda, and Jaime L. Chavez and wife Ely. Seven grandchildren Amanda Cognasi and husband Antony, AJ Betancur, Allysa Betancur, Antonio Betancur, Victoria Chavez, Christina Chavez, and Ruben Chavez, two great-grandchildren, five siblings Emilio Chavez Sr., Eufelia Puente, Guadalupe Chavez, Gloria Chavez and Jaime Chavez.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Christina Chavez and brother Joseph A. Chavez Sr.
Antonio proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam Veteran which he took great pride in. He enjoyed the outdoors; spending time fishing, woodworking, and with his dog Azul. Antonio was known for being a history buff, his random facts, his wonderful sense of humor, and how he never knew a stranger. Antonio lived life to the fullest, gave to others, and was a joy to be around. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend who will greatly be missed by all.
Visitation will be 9am to 8pm Thursday January 11, 2018 with a rosary beginning at 6:30pm at Chapel of Grace Funeral Home 1928 34th street. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday January 12, 2018 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church at 10am with interment following at Resthaven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family would like a donation made in honor of Antonio to the Disabled American Veterans Foundation or to Veterans of Foreign Wars.
